Concrete pump hire cost in South London
Concrete pump hire cost varies from project to project. At Rapid Readymix, we price up our concrete pump hires based on a number of factors, including how much pipeline we require for your site, how long we’re onsite and the complexity of the pour, offering a free quote that takes these factors into consideration. In this blog, we break down each of these factors to show what goes into the cost of hiring a concrete pump. Read on to see how we work out concrete pump hire prices across London and the South East.
How much is a concrete pump to hire?
The price will vary depending on the length of pipeline required, labour costs, how quickly you need it (we can offer same day or next day delivery), how long the team is onsite, the distance from the batching plant, and the complexity of the pour. Find out more about each of these factors below:
Length of pipeline
Concrete pump hire costs more if we need larger amounts of pipeline to reach your site to pump concrete. Our concrete pump vehicles can carry up to 100 metres of pipeline. We supply 50 metres of pipeline and equipment as standard. If your site needs more pipeline it can be delivered by a separate operator in a van. This generally costs more as we will have to arrange for additional equipment to be delivered.
Time on site
We charge per hour for delivering and pumping your concrete. The longer we’re onsite, the greater the concrete pump hire cost. We carry out all pours as efficiently as possible and work with our customers to provide exact time slots for delivery, to ensure you’re prepared for our arrival.
Complexity of pour
Our concrete pump hire prices are higher for complex pours. For example, if your site has restricted access or requires significant lengths of pipeline, we charge more as we need to provide additional operatives and potentially specialist equipment to carry out the pour. Don’t hesitate to discuss your requirements with our expert team.
Should I hire a concrete pump for my delivery?
There are a number of reasons to hire a concrete pump. The most common reason is if your site has accessibility issues, such as restricted entranceways or obstacles that would make barrowing difficult. Pumps can navigate areas that barrows simply can’t, ensuring your concrete is still delivered efficiently. But concrete pumping is great for a wide range of other project types too – from swimming pools and flooring to staircases, basements, footings and cellars. They reduce waste by limiting the risk of spillage, which saves you money (by not having to buy more concrete) and keeps the site cleaner. Pumping also requires less manual labour than barrowing, which means you free up your team to work on other areas of your build.
What kind of concrete pump do I need?
Different construction projects may require a boom pump or a line pump. Our friendly team will be able to advise you on the best type of concrete pump for your concrete delivery – contact us to discuss your requirements.
Ground line pumps are ideal for navigating tight spots where a barrow won’t fit, or around corners and down alleyways. With a line pump, concrete is pumped from a powerful hydraulic pump mounted on a small truck through a series of connected pipes that run along the ground, around any obstacles, to where the concrete is needed. The concrete pipeline for a line pump can be made from steel or flexible material.
Boom pumps are best for reaching high or low areas and navigating over or under obstacles. With boom pumps, concrete is pumped from a powerful hydraulic pump on a truck along a pipe that’s mounted on a large hydraulic boom arm. The boom pump arm extends over buildings and obstacles to direct the concrete to exactly where it’s needed.
What’s included in Rapid Readymix’s concrete pump hire cost?
Our ready mixed concrete pump services make it easy. Our smaller vehicle carrying the concrete pump will pull up at your site and our team will set up the line from the pump to where the concrete is needed. The mixer will then pull up behind the pump truck and pour the freshly mixed, quality concrete into the pump’s hopper. Our team will operate the pump as it transports concrete from the hopper to the pour site. Once your concrete has been pumped, our team will pack away the pipeline and wash out the pump’s hopper (we’ll need to dispose of the slurry onsite). We’ll clean up after ourselves and leave your site as we found it.
