Case Study: How Rapid Readymix Successfully Overcame a Two-Fold Increase in Concrete Order for a Wandsworth House Extension

Rapid Readymix recently completed a challenging project in Wandsworth, delivering concrete for the foundations of a large house extension. Despite tight deadlines and changing requirements, the team successfully provided a timely and efficient concrete delivery service using a 60-meter line pump.

 

This project was with one of Rapid Readymix’s long-standing clients, specialising in major residential projects such as new homes, basements, and extensions. We have been working with this client for nearly five years, supplying concrete across various sites in London. Our close personal relationships with customers, staff, and suppliers ensure premium quality service on every job.

The project required a last-minute order of 30m³ of BSI-certified C35 concrete and a 60-meter ground line concrete pump, to be delivered the next day at lunchtime. This urgent request came from the client’s headquarters office, highlighting the need for quick and reliable service.

 

The main challenge was the short notice for the delivery, which left us with limited time to fit it into our schedule. Additionally, a few hours before the scheduled delivery, our on-site contact informed us that the quantity required had doubled to 60m³. This unexpected change necessitated quick adjustments to our plans to meet the new requirements while also serving the rest of our delivery commitments for the day.

To manage the increased order, we leveraged our strong connections with customers and suppliers. Our aggregate supplier provided extra deliveries of sand and stone the same afternoon, ensuring we had enough material for all our jobs. We contacted other customers to see if they could accept their concrete earlier in the day, creating some flexibility for the afternoon deliveries. Our friendly relationships, history of reliability and an understanding of our customers and suppliers operations allowed us to adapt quickly to the changing situation.

 

Despite the initial challenges, Rapid Readymix successfully delivered the 60m³ of concrete within the specified timeframe. All other deliveries for the day were also completed on time without any issues. Where other companies might have struggled, Rapid Readymix turned a potential disaster into a successful day. Our client was pleased with the timely delivery and the quality of service, reinforcing our reputation as a reliable supplier of ready mix concrete in London.
