Our Client

The Rapid Readymix team was recently tasked with providing quality readymix concrete and pouring services for a basement excavation project in Pembroke Gardens, a prestigious area of Kensington, London. Our client wanted to enhance the living space available in their four-storey house, as well as increasing the property’s value. The beautiful house is located on a quiet road, with neighbouring properties and some light local traffic.

Our Client’s Needs

As our client lives in a quiet residential area, they needed us to arrive at a time that would minimise noise disruption to their neighbours, and that would not inhibit the flow of traffic for locals. As always, we kept to our agreed arrival time and ensured the job was completed within acceptable working hours. Our client also hired our specialist concrete pump team so that the concrete could be poured into the basement easily, cleanly and accurately. We pumped 100m3 of our C40 mix (with a waterproof additive) in small batches to minimise disruption.

Challenges

On one of the days, the builders in charge of our client’s basement excavation requested two concrete pours, as they needed a certain area to be finished that same day. Our expert team was able to organise this at short notice, helping the builders keep to their schedule. As the project was taking place in a public area, we also needed to ensure that members of the public were being kept safe at all times, so we worked with the builders to divert the walkway – ensuring passers-by knew of the construction work that was taking place.

Techniques

We used one of our state-of-the-art volumetric trucks and concrete pumps to pour our client’s concrete safely, precisely and professionally. The pump meant that we were able to minimise any mess and keep the rest of the four-storey property completely clean. Our team worked together efficiently to ensure the project was carried out smoothly.
